Felt Ornaments

You Need:

  • Assorted colors of felt
  • Tissues
  • Hot glue or tacky glue (for assembly)*
  • Regular white glue (for decorating)
  • Assorted colors of glitter
  • Scissors
  • Gold or silver metallic cord

Cut two 3" circles of felt (either draw with a compass or trace a jar lid that size). Cut two 3/4" x 1" rectangles of another color felt. Decorate one of the circles using regular white glue and glitter. Let dry. Cut a piece of cord approximately 9". Tear a tissue in half and fold to fit inside circle with extra room for gluing. Cut corners of folded tissue to make it round (do not unfold). Assemble ornament: place undecorated circle of felt down then glue one of the rectangles of felt to it (half of rectangle should extend beyond circle). Fold piece of cord and glue on top of rectangle making sure that plenty of the cord extends inside ornament to hold it. Next glue second rectangle on top. Run a line of glue all around the whole circle. Place tissue in the middle making sure that it stays within the glue circle and place decorated circle (decoration side up) on top. Press gently to seal and allow to dry.

We don't recommend regular white glue for assembly as it tends to be absorbed by the felt and doesn't stick well.
